The A record is the DNS record that holds the IP address the domain should point to. By default, it points to the IP address of your hosting package. If you are using the 1&1 IONOS name servers (DNS), you can change the A record.
Visit the Domain Center and locate the domain you would like to make changes to. Use the toggle arrow and select Edit DNS Settings. Find the A/AAAA and CNAME Records section to make your changes there.
It may not be possible to change the A record of a domain, if it is already being used by a 1&1 IONOS tool or feature. This article in the Help Center can help you pinpoint the exact reason the DNS settings are unmodifiable.
